Aeden has created a video game character. Now he is making how-to videos that demonstrate how to draw his character.
When I asked him why he was doing this he clearly explained that it was because when he makes his video game, people will want to see how to draw his character. Then he can sell the videos and make more money. He is making them now so he doesn't have to do it later.

Water Play
For several years I have lamented the fact that there were no fountains or spray parks to play in around here. Then we ran into friends at the movies (free!) and the mom mentioned that they were going to the fountain to play after the movie (free!). She invited us along and now I have a new fun (cheap! just pay for parking!) activity for the summer.

To keep the water fun going (it was a really hot week!) we went back to the pool with our friends (different friends). Aeden decided to help her son learn to swim, he thinks he is quite the expert. At first he was teaching her son for free, but when she teasingly said that now she doesn't have to pay for swim lessons, Aeden's entrepreneurial brain kicked in. Today he told another friend of mine (who has a 2 year old daughter) that he could teach her daughter to swim for only $20 a lesson. Much cheaper than the going rate of $70 for a week (uh? interesting math!). I tried to deter him by explaining that I am pretty sure you have to be licensed or something...

Creativity Unleashed
At our house summer vacation is a time to be creative. This summer we got Aeden a bucket of the model magic foam stuff. In hindsight, perhaps we shouldn't have bought the whole bucket. Here are some of his creations:

Overheard at the Orthodontist
Orthodontist: When do you brush your teeth?
Aeden: (thinks) Hmm, 7 sometimes 7:30 at night.
Orthodontist: Do you brush them in the morning?
Aeden: (thinks) 8, sometimes 8:30 in the morning.
Almost as if Aeden thought it was a test and figured he had to be as accurate as possible. :D

Lazy Days of Summer
When he isn't grounded, Aeden and I have been enjoying some lazy summer days.
On the last day he was in such a rush he missed breakfast and proceeded to eat an entire whopper by himself for lunch.

Then we went bowling. The free bowling this summer has been awesome and I hope they do it again next year!
He went into his first ever (to my knowledge) McDonald's Playland. Where he played tag with a little girl who then later accused him of hitting her. The uncle made a huge scene, going so far as to tell me that Aeden hitting the little girl (later from Aeden I find out that he just tapped her as if they were playing tag, which he said they were...also noted that the little girl accidentally kicked Aeden) was the reason they were leaving. Never mind that a couple of minutes earlier I saw him signalling to the kids that they only had a minute left. It was completely mortifying to me. Aeden was embarrassed as well.
Jeepers Creepers where did you get them peepers. We had a free coupon for an hour of rides (of which Aeden is tall enough to only get to do 3 of them) at Jeepers, so we went and enjoyed the a/c.
For his birthday we signed him up for a three day golf clinic, he had a really good time.

The Great Escape
Eric's company had their company picnic at The Great Escape this year.
After parking we had to walk to the main entrance, on the way was a bridge over a river.
Can you spot the turtle?
Proof positive that we took Aeden to an amusement park.

Fairies
Last Tuesday Aeden stubbed his toe on the vacuum. He managed to stub the same toe again on Wednesday at art class. By Saturday it was pretty obvious that the toenail was coming off.
Today we went to his 8-year-old check up and told the doctor about his toe. After much drama on Aeden's part the doctor removed the toenail. I am sure it was out of pity towards me since Aeden was sure he was going to bleed to death and die! if the toenail was removed.
On the way home Aeden spoke up and said "I wish I could have kept the toenail. Then I could put it under my pillow and the toenail fairy could come."
Um, yeah child there is no toenail fairy.
"There are lots of fairies; the tooth fairy, the toenail fairy, the finger fairy, the blood fairy. When the blood fairy comes it takes your blood and leaves you a $1.
