Last Day of First Grade

Well it is as official as it gets. As of 12:00 p.m. Aeden is no longer a first grader, of course to be technical he isn't officially a second grader yet. So I guess that makes him a kid on summer vacation?!

Note: I am going to see how long it takes for Aeden to ask for a haircut. It should be interesting. ;)

Field Day

Aeden's school holds their field day on the last day. Makes sense really since as we all know the last day of school is filled with time fillers.

Excited to be finishing first grade!

Shoe Shuffling: The kids put on over-sized shoes over their shoes and shuffle down to the flag, around it and back. Aeden was extremely adept at this activity. He was fast!

Paddle Ball Balancing: The kids had to balance an egg on the paddle without touching the egg. Walk down, around a flag and back. Aeden was very much not adept at this one!

Balloon Walking: Another one Aeden struggled with, until the end when his team thought to tell him to hold the balloon towards the front of his knees.

Potato Sack Race: This was also hard for him, he kept falling (see first picture) but at least he kept his spirits up and was adorable as ever!

I think he had a great time!

Becoming a Wolf!

Firstly, look how handsome my boy is!

A Tiger with attitude...

Surfing on a stump...

Time for the transformation, look closely, can you tell when he changes from a Tiger to a Wolf?

Hee! Do you see the difference in the above photo!

Congratulations Aeden! Good luck in the coming year, Mommy and Daddy are very proud of you!

One and a quarter

Aeden had a banner day today. He got to read the menu at Magic Moments, he had a birthday celebration at school, and he was kid of character for citizenship today. :D

To celebrate Aeden and I went out to a diner for dessert. Aeden ordered a chocolate ice cream sundae with two cherries (one for me and one for him, quite thoughtful) and in the end I had an eclair.

Since I don't care for the chocolate part of the eclair Aeden was kind enough to eat it for me. I commented that he had 3/4 of a chocolate ice cream sundae and 1/2 of an eclair. He piped up that he had one and a quarter desserts!!!

What a smart boy adding those fractions himself. Bask in the glory of his brilliance....

How Aeden thinks:
Okay, when talking to Eric about it Aeden explained that he had 75 cents (percent?) of a sundae and 50 cents (percent?) of an eclair so he had one and a quarter desserts!

My thought is that he was either trying to say percent OR he relates everything to money and that is how he figured it out. Either way, smart boy. :D

Exciting news!

(after school today)

Aeden: Mommy I have exciting news! Well, and some bad news and some more bad news.

Mommy: Well give me the bad news first, I like to get it all over with and then enjoy the good news.

Aeden: Well the first bad news is Boo* didn't come. (hangs head sadly) The second bad news was there was no outdoor recess.** But the exciting news is I have a Pirate Crew!!***

*Boo is the ghost from Mario. Portrayed here.

**No outdoor recess because it is 95 degrees out with humidity so bad it feels like 104; heat advisory and tornado watch.

***Everybody who aspires to be Luffy needs a Pirate Crew! Aeden's consists of some friends from school. I was invited to join as well because I am an adult and he would miss me. :P

Overheard in the car today...

Aeden was having me echo a song that will be sung at the author's tea his class is having next Wednesday (that I don't get to go to, sad me).

Aeden sings
I echo
Aeden says no you have to do it like this and sings
I echo
(continues for awhile until...)

Aeden: Mommy you can't sing good!

I can't believe it took the kid 6 and 3/4 years to figure that out!

We picked up Five Guys for dinner tonight and were eating in the car on the way home since it was late. Aeden finished off his burger and waited while we were talking. Finally he spoke up saying:

My belly really wants a fry now!

Sewing buttons

Aeden is on a mission to get all the yellow scout elective beads possible (10). The downside is that he didn't mount this mission until he only had a week left as a Tiger. We still have 20 electives to do to earn the last two beads. Not sure we can do it we will see...

One of the Tiger Cub scout electives is to sew a button. Who knew pirates sewed?

Pose

While I was trying on shirts at Tar*et the boys were trying on hats. See them pose!
