Aeden lost another tooth today at school. Actually it was bleeding so the nurse yanked it out. He cried all through recess. :( He is now missing his two front teeth (and one on the bottom).

Mistakes?
Sometimes as a parent we make mistakes. It is important to learn from them, move on, and hope the repercussions don't follow you for long.
I fear that I have made a mistake. For 3 years Aeden has asked to have a lemonade stand. For 3 years I have put him off or flat out told him no. Yesterday I made the mistake of saying yes. Even worse I made the mistake of saying he could have a combination lemonade stand/art sale.*
The plans have begun. There will be two pitchers (bought with Aeden's money, he is eyeing the ones with the spout) of lemonade******, two different sizes of cups, small will be twenty-five cents, large will be fifty-cents and signs.
A multitude of signs are needed. There will be open/close signs, signs stating there is a lemonade stand down the road, signs stating that the lemonade stand is at our house, and two signs at the lemonade stand stating which side is the lemonade and which is the art sale.**
Soon he is going to be requesting the cool stickers he has been eyeing since he was four and decided he wanted a garage sale to sell his baby stuff and get more toys.***
However, none of these lead me to wondering if I have made a mistake in allowing the lemonade stand/art sale. No, all of this is typical of my darling quirky boy.
What leads me to believe I have made a mistake is the fact that my darling boy is already taking into account the fact that he won't be available to run his lemonade stand/art sale during camps. Therefore on a daily (hourly?) basis he states that I (his mother!) will be running the sale for him while he is gone. He persists in his belief despite the fact that I continually decline the position of being his employee!****
*I threw the art sale idea out there in hopes that he would give up the idea of having a store in the playroom. Before every playdate I have to remind him that we do not sell items to our guests.
**Because it wouldn't be blatantly obvious?
***Hmm we are working on that whole not being greedy thing.
****I have no intention of being his employee or a pathetic adult running a stand/sale for a kid in his absence. *****
*****It is clear to me why I can't follow conversations as I am constantly distracted with the flow of my thoughts.
******When re-reading the post I realized I forgot a crucial detail. When we were talking about lemonade ingredients I mentioned that he would need sugar. Aeden thought that was a great idea and now he can charge more because people will want something sweet! So not happening.

Not sure ifyou can tell, but Aeden lost his upper front tooth tonight. It was really gross. However, what I want to know is why didn't the tooth that has been hanging and crooked for MONTHS fall out?

Abracadabra!
The scout theme for this month was magic. Some of the tiger cubs learned magic tricks and some did not. I bought Aeden this magic set and he decided to do his own trick with an invisible ink pen and paper (courtesy of spy gear). He was great and a ham but was so interested in sharing how the pen works that he forgot to explain the process.

After the scouts did their tricks and the parents listened to the money spiel, we were lucky enough to have a magician put on a magic show. He called Aeden up to help him with one of his tricks. Pulling coins out from thin air. :) Aeden did fabulous and hammed it up great! At the end the magician gave Aeden a half dollar.

Aeden: "Mommy what is that behind your ear?!" (Aeden inserts his thumb in my ear and yanks)
Funny boy! I don't think he gets the full gist of magic. :D
Twinkle Twinkle
Just so you know you will either need to tilt your head, turn your monitor on its side, or deal with it as the director (namely me) made a mistake when taking this video. :)
Aeden got a lighted keyboard for some reason, the deal is that if he is respectful and listens in scouts he can use the keyboard. If he does not then he loses the keyboard until the next scout event. (Let's hope he manages to listen and be respectful at the last event of the year!) We call it motivation or consequences or something concrete he can remember when he is tired because the den/pack meetings start a half hour before his bedtime and continue well past.
Back to my point. The keyboard is kind of cool because you can put it in different modes that theoretically help you learn, the keys light up, you push that key and voila you are instantly awesome.

Howe Caverns
Aeden and I went to Howe Caverns over April break* with some of the scouts from our pack. He had a grand time and we got a massively discounted rate. Win-win!
Nothing like having your friends around.

The one and only part of the cavern besides the boat, the ground and the railing the kids were allowed to touch. They all clamored for their turn!

The stalactites and stalagmites were awe-inspiring and drippy! We got to ride a boat for a quarter of mile through the caverns. Oh and I thought for sure my head was going to meet the cavern walls/ceiling whatnot as they warned us we would have to duck. Since I have a propensity for walls jumping out at me and I wanted to prevent a concusion, I sat hunched over most of the time. Aeden, however, was in the middle of the boat and short, he looked like he had a grand time!
There was also a neat winding pathway but since it was very narrow I refrained from taking pictures in it.

Housekeeping
Okay in my never ending search for a technology that will be user friendly for my entire family as well as easy for me to update, I have decided to try blogging.
Eventually I hope to move this blog over to the website I created last year*. There is so much that goes on in Aeden's (and by extension our) life that never gets shared. Let's see if we can fix that and share more!
Also, I am working on figuring out which technology will be the best for sharing full-size (printable) images of Aeden. Currently I just send an e-mail with pictures of him but most of those are not print quality, although I have upped the size to 600x400 which should give you decent 4x6 print, theoretically (further research has shown this theory to be blown). Which now that I think about it is probably fine for everyone else.
I digress. I know that we all (uh by we all I mean Neil/Jessie; Lauren/Dan; Me) use kodak gallery but sometimes there are deals where we can get prints made much much cheaper.** So I want to figure out a way that I can share full-size printable images without locking viewers into purchasing from one specific place. However, in my quest I also want to password protect everything. No sense in letting all the crazies have pictures of Aeden. ;)
I am currently exploring the free versions of photobucket*** and flickr. Hmm I just had the thought that I should have my tests linked here so people can easily leave comments for me. Of course I am making the huge (and massively incorrect) assumption that everyone who is reading this has no life (much like me) and will want to play around with technology.
Okay I have babbled on long enough, now you can read all my ***** notes. :D

Audacity
Sometimes I wonder how I am ever going to turn Aeden into a kind, loving, respectful adult. Especially after interactions such as these:
Aeden is in time-out for speaking disrespectfully and telling me no multiple times when I told him to go to timeout. So he has been up there for about 10 minutes (long time out) and he says "Mommy I am coming down now" walks out of his room and shuts his door!!! After I tell him that no he is not.

Then he started calling me to his room, saying he needed me. After his timeout was over and he to call me I went upstairs to find him laying on the floor. The child put pillows on his floor by the bed, then rolled off his bed onto the pillows; the first time it didn't hurt, so he did it again!!! The second time his head fell between two pillows. When I went upstairs he asked me to check for cracks on his head. :P

April Fools
Aeden has finally figured out April Fools Day. I woke up to a chorus of April Fools Jokes that mainly consisted of "Mommy I am not going to brush my teeth...April Fools!" and "Mommy there is no school today...April Fools!".
