Blizzard 2010

The wreath on our door looked very festive this morning.
Snow in the backyard. What is odd/amusing is that the people across the street barely had any snow on their trees...it seems to have come to our trees!

The snow stuck to the icicles that had formed earlier in the week.

Aeden had fun blazing a trail through the snow in the front yard.

Aeden made himself a seat in the snow on the raised border that is normally a significant drop from the front yard to the backyard.

Gingerbread Houses

He says he was thinking about his design, looks like he was pouting to me. :P

Christmas Day 2010

Waiting to come downstairs...
Hanging out in the kitchen with dad and some stocking stuffers
Checking for signs of the reindeer

Reindeer prints in the snow!
The great pickle search...I hid the knitted pickle and Eric found it. :)
We had a lovely day spent in our pjs.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve 2010

Christmas Eve 2010
A day to enjoy Christmas lights...
the last day of Advent...
we get to open gifts from Grandma & Grandpa... the day we discovered that unless his techniques change and his patience increases...it isn't likely that Aeden will become an archaeologist. ;)
Making gingerbread men.
Putting out food for the reindeer.

Lunar Eclipse

Eric woke me up at 2:30ish to see the Lunar Eclipse. Sadly it was cloudy and snow/sleeting so I got one picture and went back to bed. The big gray blobs are the snowflakes melting on my lens.
Gratuitious shot of Aeden at his holiday party...secretly pleased that I was there, but maybe slightly embarrassed as I was the only parent there...taking pictures for the yearbook.

The Sky Angle by Aeden

The sky is white with snow coming out of it. This angle has a red coat and a red jacket. The angle is playing a trumpet with something on it. The angle is holding a stick with a star at the end of it. The star is shining bright. The dust is coming off the trumpet while it's moving. I can feel the glitter on the coat. I can smell the snow falling onto Earth. I can hear the angle flaping her wings. ---reprinted with permission from Aeden

Aeden's teacher had them take a holiday card and write descriptive phrases about it. Then they read their paragraphs out loud and the other students guessed which card the writer had. Since Aeden read it aloud no one knew that he had written angle instead of angel. :)

Glasses

Eric got glasses! He even got up early to pick them up one morning, poor guy was a good sport when I tried to take a picture of him at the eye doctor, but he obviously looks tired! And apparently I was all about getting up close with the camera. :P
Here he is a few days later...we got him transition lenses and he looks very cute in them!
Hmm, do you think these boys might possibly be a little bit related?

The Pickles...

We currently have three pickle ornaments on our tree...I get to hide one this year and let Eric and Aeden try to locate it and earn an extra present. The question is...which one will I hide?

December Happenings...

Saint Nicholas came to visit while we were sleeping on December 5th. To prepare for his visit we each put a shoe out...Aeden tried to sneak some extras in there...
Saint Nicholas left Aeden a neat little pickle ornament that you can play hide-and-seek with. It is geared toward younger children but since our pickle ornament broke last year we have been searching for a new one*...this one won't work, but it made us all smile. ;)
December is the time for eggnog chais at *bux. Here Aeden is enjoying one while waiting for dad to get off work. :)
A favorite pasttime of Aeden's is reading! It is very exciting and fun to see him enjoying various books and formats. He likes listening to audiobooks and reading graphic novels and comics. There have even been a few nights were he tried to read by flashlight!
One of the charity drives at the mall was giving away balloon figures with each donation. Aeden chose the balloon Santa. Pretty neat!

Gingerbread house building at the Library!

Our local library held an event for kids to make gingerbread houses. There was a range of ages from 3-12. They put out milk cartons to use as the house frame. Aeden was the only to set the milk carton aside and go free-form.

If you click through to the video, Aeden explains his thought process in his creation.

Snowflake

Friday night it was cold and there were a few flurries. When we came out to the car on Saturday morning there were snowflakes frozen to it.

Overheard---at the eye doctor

(most indignant voice ever heard)

"I got shot in the eye! Your machine shot me in the eye!"--Aeden after getting a puff of air in his eye.

The boy has 20/20 vision.

We were very lucky to have Tigtigs and Papa come for a long weekend visit. There was much video game playing and hanging out. We had such a fun and relaxing time!

Thank you for coming and visiting us! We love you. :)
