Bonz candy

December 31, 2004

Okay, so everyone knows that bonz candy (bone shaped) they sell in the quarter machines at the store, right?

We were at MIL's and they took Aeden out for the day and let him get some Bonz candy. Later we were back at their house and Aeden was eating it.

Now, I didn't personally get to see this b/c well Eric is a very quick disciplinarian .

Well, apparently he took 4 pieces of Bonz candy, stuck 2 in each nostril, and 2 hanging from his mouth.

Apparently it was quite hilarious. Eric didn't crack a smile and was down on Aeden telling him it was dangerous etc. very quickly. MIL had to go in another room so Aeden wouldn't see her laughing.

Daddy pants

Aeden has a pair of gray sweats that he got from his friend in AZ. He calls them his "Daddy pants" because Eric wears sweats around the house.
Too cute.

Crabbits

That is what Aeden says when something unexpected happens. Like when his m&ms went flying across the room... "Ah, crabbit".

I think it comes from a cross b/t when I say "Ah crap" and Eric says "Dammit".
"Ah crabbit"

Here today, gone tomorrow.

December 8, 2004

It snowed on Monday, a lot! On Tuesday Aeden tried to make a Frosty snowman, but he couldn't get the snow in a circle (and he couldn't find a magic tigger hat to make Frosty talk).
This morning when we got up, there was hardly (and I do mean hardly, like a minuscule patch the size of Aeden's behind) any snow left on the ground. He was so upset that his Frosty was gone, and the snow was gone.

Ah ha!

December 6, 2004

I put Christmas lights up in Aeden's room, or rather I was attempting to, but it was a very short strand, so I left them for Eric to figure out.

Before he got the chance, Aeden decided to plug them in. He knows the rules, only Mommy and Daddy plug things in. So he lost the Christmas lights, they went downstairs instead.

Fast forward to this weekend. I had bought an extra strand of lights, and Eric and I asked Aeden where we should put them.

Aeden put his finger to his chin and said "hmmmm". He looked around and then said "Ah ha!" "My room!"

Nice try stinker. :P They went in the living room.

Present

November 23, 2004

Eric's mom called Aeden last night to see what he wanted for a present. She specifically asked him if he wanted a present, here is the conversation.

Tigtigs: "Would you like me to buy you a present?"
Aeden: "Yeah"
Tigtigs: "What would you like for a present?"
Aeden: "My Papa Tigtigs house, Sheila, Neil, Jessie"

She asked him two or three times what he wanted for a present, and each time he told her the exact same thing.

No more mushrooms

Eric is playing a game (EQ1) and Aeden is watching it, apparently there are evil mushrooms attacking. When the mushrooms die they fall down.

So Aeden starts singing "The doctor said, No more mushrooms jumping on the bed".

Mean boy!

September 13, 2004

Aeden was sitting on my lap writing on sticky notes while I read TWoP's Amazing Race recap. We were leaning back snuggling and he was in the crook of my arm.

All of a sudden he crumpled his sticky note and threw his hand up to throw it behind him and instead the sticky note and hand hit me straight in the eye.

Of course being the big wuss that I am both hands came up to my face and I started to cry. Then Aeden got upset and said sorry over and over while trying to pull my hands away from my face.

Then when I didn't respond to that he told me I was all better several times, and when I finally was calmer (although my eye hurt a LOT), he crumpled up another sticky note and said "Owie mommy eye again!"

Um NO.

Meow, meow

That is what Aeden was saying to the furry creature I found. I was working in the garden when I happened upon a furry creature and took it over to show my boys. Aeden came over and kept telling it "meow, meow".......................but it was a caterpillar!!! ROFL

Are you happy?

August 27, 2004

Aeden's new thing is "Are you happy mommy?" Then he goes down a list of other people asking if they are happy too.
Yesterday I was in a mood, so we had this bit of conversation.

Aeden: you happy Mommy?

Me: No

Aeden: you happy Mommy?

Me: No

Aeden: you happy Mommy?

Me: No

Aeden: you happy Mommy?

Me: No, Aeden are you happy?

Aeden: No, mad, mommy no happy

Me: Are you mad because mommy wouldn't say she was happy?

Aeden: Yeah.

3-year checkup

August 3, 2004

Aeden had his appointment and I was a bit disappointed, I thought they would ask more development questions (our old ped did). I mean she observed him and he was chatty and his usual active self, so maybe she didn't need to?

He wouldn't stand on the scale for her so I gave her the weight of 27ish pounds and she laid him down on the table and marked his height and measured that. She said he was 38.5 inches, which seems a bit off to me. I measured him myself and he is about 36.5" tall and 28 pounds.

Hmm, I checked the growth chart online and that put him at about 15ish percentile for weight and height. That seems more accurate. :D

Pickle Bug

June 18, 2004

My poor, poor child was minding his own business today getting ready to return his library book into the outside library drop when.........

a mean ole wasp* came up and stung his arm. Poor baby kept telling me it was owie. It got a little red and slightly swollen around the spot, but the swelling is gone and so is the redness (this happened 2 hours ago) and now there is only a spot.

We were in the children's area of the library and he stopped and came over to me to tell me about the bug that "bit" him.

*Although I can't be sure, I think it is a wasp because it looked suspiciously like the wasp that was in my hair on Wednesday.

Ice Cream Park

First visit to the Ice Cream Park. Aeden's flavor of choice is vanilla with sprinkles.

Cuse me

Aeden has started saying "cuse me" after he burps, or when he needs to get by. It is by no means consistent, but it does pop out on occasion.

Flash forward to this morning: We were in the home depot parking lot and I started sneezing. And of course I sneezed like 5 times. As I was doing the last sneeze, Aeden says "cuse me, Mom".

Rainbow

Look! I made a rainbow of cheeze-its.

Saturday, March 27, 2004

Why?

Aeden has started using the dreaded: Why?
It started when he put his spongebob DVD in his computer and it wouldn't work. I told him his computer doesn't play DVD's and that it wouldn't work. His response: "Why mom?".
Since then I have heard the Why word two more times. :(

March 16, 2004
______________

Hmmm

If you ask Aeden a question or he has to think about something he will take his index finger and lay it against his lower cheek and say "hmmm".
______________
Wrong Color

His new favorite game is to sit on the window ledge and watch for Eric to come home (or wait for Eric to get ready to leave) and discuss what color Eric's car is. He will purposely say a wrong color and then laugh. Conversation sample:

Mama: What color is Daddy's car?

Aeden: White

Mama: Daddy's car is white?

Aeden: No, red.

Mama: Daddy's car is red.

Aeden: No, purple.

Mama: Daddy's car is purple?
Conversation continues until mommy gets bored.

_____________
Cleaning

As I type Aeden is cleaning the apartment with a broom twice his size and a dustpan. He will pick the dustpan up to about his waist to sweep things into it.

______________
Independence

(Okay this one drives me batty. **Note for 2008: I wish he would do this on his own now!)

Everything these days is "My get it".

He wants fish sticks for dinner, "My get it, my get it". He has to put all five fish sticks on the pan, and put the pan into the toaster oven.

He has to make his own sandwiches (butter and jelly, or pb).

He has to do his own DVD's (which we frown on because he went through a phase where he scratched some computer cds).

Everything is "My get it!"

_____________
Daddeeeeeeeeeee

Aww, this is perhaps my favorite. At the end of the day (and sometimes when he gets up) everything is Daddeeeeeeeee. Daddy has to help Aeden make his sandwich, Daddy has to carry Aeden to the car, Daddy has to give Aeden a hug. It is so nice.

Yep, nope and others

Aeden's new phrases: Yep, and Nope

Also he is learning to be very polite. Today he tripped over his bike, picked himself up, turned around and said "Sorry bike".

Warning poop mentioned:

January 27, 2004

And all boy he is! Let me tell you about the last ten minutes.
I was reading e-mail and Aeden was busy dirting his pants. Well, I got to an e-mail from Eric where he tells Aeden to be good. So I called Aeden in to tell him, and he comes around the corner hiking his pants up like they were falling off. Thinking nothing of it, I asked him if he pooped. He said yes (should have known something was up when he actually said yes), then walked away. So I followed him......

into the hallway, right outside my door......

where he pointed to his diaper.......

that he had pooped in.....

then taken off and dropped........

so there was the diaper, and a pile of poop.

He says "Poop" (in his cute way of saying p's).{sigh} I couldn't help it I busted out laughing.

So we picked it up, and I put it in the toilet, after he sniffed it (don't ask me why) and said "ewwwww poop". He flushed and said "My poop".

Then we went to change, I pulled his pants down and he still needed wiped. Ewwwww. Got a new diaper on, jammie pjs bottoms on and went to take the red striped shirt off and as I was pulling it over his head, sand started pouring down his face.

He had apparently put handfuls of sand in the pocket of his shirt at daycare.

28 month abilities

January 18, 2004

1.use scissors: Well, he tries, he insists on getting them and cuts a little spot then rips the rest of the paper. :D

2.paint and with what? how long?how often? He does paint, but not often, with fingerpaints, although for Christmas he got some paint, paint cups and brushes, but we are going to wait for the move and let him use them then.

3.run like a toddler and not like a baby?use a bike? jump up and down? I don't understand this one. He runs, but not sure the difference b/t a toddler and a baby. I don't know if he can use a bike, his legs were too short last time, couldn't reach the pedals. He can jump and down, quite well (IMO). :D

4.use playdough......: He loves playing with playdough, he will squish it and tear it into small pieces, and try to roll it, or stamp it.

5. talk clearly and more than a 100 words...create sentences: He definitely says more than 100 words, I think about 75-85% of what he says is understandable by me, and he strings 3-4 words together in a sentence (not a grammatically correct sentence, but then he is only 2). I think he is still somewhat delayed in his speech, but since he is progressing I am not worried. He has started to use pronouns (MY), and will say My sit chair. So I think he is doing okay. (2008 note, how naive was I to not worry about speech?)
