Mail Call

I had a mail delivery today. A lovely paper bag with "Frech Mailman mail Frechmailman" written on it. Inside was an envelope taped and sealed.

On one side it said "$3.00 to open whats in here and give the $3.00 to Aeden Gourry G.".

On the other side it said "To Aeden's Mommy, from Tigtigs"

After getting over the shock of recieving a COD letter, I handed over three $1.00 French money. Then I heard there was an error, my "money" was returned and the letter was taken away.

A few minutes later I got another delivery.

"To Aeden's Mommy, from Neil and Riley."
"$5.00 USA dollers to open whats in here and give the $5.00 USA dollers to Aeden G. your son."

Then I recieved another note that said "And 1 more U.S.A. doller to get another priz".

I politely asked how prize was spelled and the frenchmail man responded with "I am a French Mailman, we do it differently!"

*It is important to note that at one point he said he was actually a French Viking Mailman. He looked quite dashing with his blue cape, lightsaber and viking helmet...wish I had gotten a picture!

Speed Demon

Here is a video of Aeden sledding, the snow is no longer fluffy so he gets some really good speed going!

P.S. This was a compressed file for e-mail which is why the quality is poor.

P.P.S. You must click through to the blog to watch the video.

Pinewood Derby 2009

The Pinewood Derby was yesterday, due to the craziness of the last two months the boys didn't get started on the car until last week. I think they did a fabulous job, Aeden came up with design idea and did a lot of the work himself!

Learning to use the handsaw

Sanding the car

Looking very much like a "Mad Engineer"
Eric drilled a hole for the driver
Figuring out the weights and measures

Waiting in line to get the car registered
Getting ready to race!
This year Aede's car came in 2nd each time it managed to make it down the track...good consistency! His time was averaged at 181.2 (I think, it was 180something), which I guess is somewhat slow but it sounds awesome to me!

What I didn't get on camera is that Aede's car actually was set up five times. Twice it jumped the track, much to the amusement of the audience. The boys explained it as Yoshi providing some lovely trick driving!

Everyone was impressed by Aede's car, of course he used a major icon so...

The Derby Car!

Although he didn't win first, second, or third place, Aeden did get a trophey for participation. He is thrilled to just have a trophey, but was a bit disappointed in not placing.

Last year they had a craftsmanship category, we were hoping Aede would win in that area. Unfortunately, due to giving out participation trophies, the pack decided not to hold the craftsmanship category this year.

In my opinion, any car that can jump the track numerous times and still be in one piece shows impressive craftsmanship!

Aeden and his car are winners in our eyes! Good job Aeden!

A Great President

One of Aeden's assignments had him answer the question: "What makes a great president?".

His response: "A great president will give people toys what [that] they want."

I guess that puts Eric and I out of the running. :P

Famous

Aeden informed me today that (boy) scouts was famous and that means
that boys who are scouts are famous.

Apparently following that logic Aeden is famous!

Sledding

For some reason when we woke up this morning we were surprised to see that it had snowed, a lot, over night. Once we shoveled the driveway and brought in wood we let Aeden go sledding.

It is the first time that he has had the opportunity and given that it is supposed to be even colder later this week, probably the only time this week he will have the opportunity (we have a high of 10F forcasted for later this week).

Since everything that was on the ground before was basically icy, the new snow was good for getting distance.

Many, may pictures of Aeden (I took of 170 pics!)

Here he stopped, looked at me and said "Ta Da!"

The joy on his face makes standing out in the frigid, below freezing temperatures worth it. :)

Visiting Arizona

We were fortunate enough to be able to stay at Tigger & Eddie's house for the duration of our trip to Arizona. A lot of noise was made by all.

Such a beautiful girl.

Happy Birthday Riley!
We were also lucky enough to get to visit my family one day during our visit. I do have a few pictures of the various kids, but wasn't sure about posting them. E-mail me if you want to see how cute they all are!
