We went out to eat last weekend at Friendly's and the man asked Aeden what his name was, Aeden answered, and the guy looked up for confirmation. Then he asked how to spell it and Eric told him, so the guy is writing it down and spelling it as he did so, he mispelled it.

Aeden harped on that for a good 10 min. "My name is A-e-d-e-n, not (however the guy spelled it)."

Aeden and i arrived at dance class and Aeden started saying (totally out of the blue) something about spongebob squarepants. I couldn't understand what he was saying so I had to ask him several times.

Finally he said really loudly: Mommy I want my baby brother name spongebob squarepants to play with me at dance and jennifer's house and play on my computer.

Then this morning he was playing UNO with his "ten best friend" and he did the same thing so his "ten best friend" left because Aeden was cheating. LOL (all according to Eric, I was in class)

Swords

We were at the dollar store today and Aeden saw a toy sword and started swinging it around and there was another kid in the aisle, Aeden reassured the kid "I no attack you" and he started swinging it around some more.

The kid started walking towards Aeden (or away I am not sure) and Aeden stopped and said "Its okay, I no attack you"
The kid said "I know" then he got a sword and started playing swords with Aeden. Kind of rough but not alarmingly so. His parent/grandparent was telling him to be gentle b/c Aeden is smaller (I think the kid was 6ish but I don't know he was several inches taller then aeden though). So then the kid gets two swords and Aeden has 1.
So they are playing and everything and then Aeden walks away and the grandma is saying "See you need to be gentler you scared him" meanwhile I hear Aeden saying "I need to get two swords"...lol

Favorite Game

Aeden's favorite game is UNO, and although we have My First UNO the Winnie-the-Pooh version and even though we play it nightly. His most favoritest is the regular UNO game and he asks us to play it multiple times in a night.

At dinner last night Aeden started singing a song, when asked who taught it to him, he just said "Aeden". It was a lovely made up song.


Then I was trying to talk to Eric in the car and Aeden would yell "mommy, what is this word q-o-p? Sound it out mommy. What word does that make...qop! qop! "

A friend was coming over at the last minute and I was cleaning up the living room and asked Aeden to clean the playroom, which looks like a bomb on tinkertoys went off. I even tried to bribe him. After asking him twice to clean it up (yes asking), he said:
"Its okay, we just shut the door" then he went and shut the door. ROFL


My kind of cleaning. :)

Doesn't need us

Okay, so we had some yumster yogurts in the fridge. Bottom shelf (of the bottom freezer fridge), which is basically the only shelf Aeden can reach.

I stumbled out of the room the other morning and Aeden followed me into the bathroom, showed me an open yumster and said:

"Look mommy, I can open it by myself, I don't need mommy and daddy anymore!"

Heh.
Eric wants to know how he is going to get more yogurts if he doesn't need us to buy them. :P

4-year checkup

Aeden had his check-up today. They said he was 38.5" tall and 32 pounds. According to their notes from last year he was 38.5" tall then as well. So according to them he hasn't grown taller at all. I looked up the information from last year because I remember he wasn't exactly cooperative, plus he has been outgrowing his pants. I saw that I had to remeasure him last year, so he did end up growing 2" this year. :D

4 year check-up: 38.5" and 32 pounds

3 year check-up: 36.5" and 27 pounds

2 year check-up: 32" and 23 pounds

1 year check-up: 28.5" and 17 lbs 8 oz.

birth: 20.25" and 7 lbs 10 oz.

Aeden broke out dancing in the middle of Wal-mart today, much to the delight of some customers. LOL
I was cracking up. He was wiggling, and rolling his arms, and doing hops, it was too funny!

Poor Aeden. He was so upset on Father's Day. Just a few weeks ago we had my birthday, and Mother's Day. He embraced both of those very enthusiastically.

Unfortunately, I think he has had enough. When it came time to wish Eric a Happy Daddy Day, Aeden got upset and proclaimed:

Aeden just wants to be called Aeden. We tease him and call him Peacock, and he yells and says he is not a peacock, he is Aeden Gourry.

Bedtime Routine

Okay so we have quite the routine going now.
We have made it up and you can't skip any of it without him going ballistic, unless of course he chooses to skip it, then it is okay.

Put dishes in sink; clean living room; brush teeth; put on pjs; clean bedroom; put clothes in hamper; do checks (check off the list of chores); count how many days are left in the week in English, Spanish, German; go through color cards; read story; ***; tuck in; sing sunshine; turn on fan; parent(s) leave room.

Okay the weirdness. Aeden has to, and I do mean has to go through this spiel. You can not interrupt him, you can not ask him anything, tell him to do anything, or whatnot until he has finished, otherwise you will get irritated b/c he isn't listening. Once he starts this, you just have to go with it. I have stopped Eric many times from stepping on Aeden's words b/c it would just end with them butting heads.

Here it is:
Aeden: Mommy watch t.v.? Mommy go night-night? ; Daddy watch t.v. ; Daddy play computer ; Daddy go night-night? "

He has to go through each of those, in that order with the appropriate person answering yes. If you don't answer yes he will repeat the question again. He is so odd.

I rarely tell Aeden he can't have something because he is a boy and it is for girls. The exception is clothes/dress-up. Those I will tell him it is girl stuff. My friend however has a 15 month old and she is always telling him that such and such is a girl toy etc. I went shopping with her last week and she was telling both boys (hers and mine) that. I laughed at her and told her we don't tell Aeden that unless it is clothing.
So fast forward to Saturday. Aeden was on my last nerve at Target and he wanted the Dora dollhouse accessories. Irritated beyond belief (for other reasons), I told him he couldn't have it because it was for girls.

Aeden: I a girl!

Me: No you are not.

Aeden: Yes, I are a girl.

Me: Are you a girl because you want these toys?

Aeden: Yes

You know on the computer games where they set up "accounts" with their names on it, so several kids can keep their games seperate? Like on Dora there are 3 slots?

Anyway, yesterday I typed AEDEN in the first slot and left him to play. When we logged in today I noticed that the second and third slots had AEDENQU and AEDENKJIOEJ .

I, of course praised him on typing his name first before adding the extra letters.

Then he went and deleted them all while I was talking to Eric on the phone.

While I was still talking to Eric, Aeden then proceeded to type/click the letters AEDEN in the first slot with absolutely no help from me.

Yesterday Eric went to brush his teeth before going to work and asked me where his toothbrush was (like I would know). Since I didn't know he went and asked Aeden, only to discover that there was a half a tube of toothpaste squirted out on the rug in the living room.

Apparently I am being rewarded every time I poop on the potty. Aeden informed me that if I pooped on the potty I would get an altoid, and there was more for whenever I went poop.

Then, as I was eating an altoid and Aeden was sitting there chomping the altoids down as if they were, well candy, the following conversation ensued.

Me: Please get the altoids away from me, they are making me sick.
Aeden: No pick nose, get sick.
Me: Oh if you pick your nose you will get sick?
Aeden: Yeah, pick nose, get sick, need medicine.
Me: You need medicine if you get sick?
Aeden: Yeah eat those, all better.

Blame it on the Earwax

Blame it on the Ear wax
I noticed the other day that my son has a bit of earwax in his ear. Right where the little circle spot going into the eardrum is . It is just far enough in there that I can't reach it with a washcloth.

I would use a q-tip to get it out but this is the boy who will stick anything into an orifice regardless of whether or not it is a good idea! So, um, I won't be giving him any ideas.

I have decided to leave it in there. This way when he doesn't listen I can blame it on the earwax.

Me: "Boobutt, pick that mess up now!"
Boobutt: (continues on with his business, taking no notice of his mother)
Me: "Darn that earwax, foiled again"

It is snowing today...a lot! Unfortunately, we had to go to the grocery store to get this weeks groceries (and milk), so we headed out this morning. Everyone went to the grocery store this morning.

It was so busy I had to put Aeden in the cart, against his will, because he kept walking off to "fix" things with his tools. It was just too busy for that. One dad even told his child to look at the good boy riding in the cart. I laughed.

So anyway, we got our groceries and while Eric was paying, I pulled Aeden to the side to get him bundled up. We started with his jacket. I was holding it up like normal and he was facing it. He went to put his arms in as if the jacket was going to go on backwards. After doing this twice, I exapseratedly told Aeden to stop.

His response: I just teasing mom, I just teasing!.

Just recently (like the last couple of weeks) I have started explaining teasing to Aeden. I will tell him that Daddy is just teasing him, and Aeden will say "Daddy stop tease me!" in a highly indignant tone.
However, Aeden gives as good as he gets in the teasing department and one of his favorite phrases is "Ha ha HA!".

No eat cookies

I made up some choc. chip cookies last night and Eric told Aeden he could have one after he ate his chicken. Aeden came in and told Eric not to eat his cookies.

Aeden: No eat my cookies.
Daddy: I will eat the cookies if you don't eat your chicken.
Aeden: No my eat the cookies, ha ha ha!
Daddy: No I will eat all the cookies, ha ha ha!

This continued on until both boys collapsed in a fit of giggles. You really had to see it to get the full effect. lol

according to Aeden.
New Year's Eve we were having a big picnic in the living room and Aeden was chowing down. Somehow we got on the topic of cakes, and Aeden was telling us how he was 3.
So I asked him how old Mommy was. He thought about it, and thought about it, then said "4".

Then we asked how old Daddy was. He thought about it and said "10, Daddy go to school". ROFL
I think I am going to have to start talking to Aeden about how when you are 4 or 5 you go to school, not when you are 10. :P

Later we were telling MIL about this and asked Aeden how old she was...apparently she is "5".
I thought it was cute that everyone was older than him.
