Scenes from our Arizona Trip

Aeden and I flew out to Arizona for a much needed vacation. We got very lucky, the week before we went the weather was in the 90's and the forecast is similar for this week. However, the week we were there, beautiful mid-70's.

Walking in the yard...

The day after the ice storm, the ice formed icicles on the trees.

Aeden spent a long time getting the leash onto the cat, then carried her out to the meadow, and took her for a walk...which consisted of her beelining it for the door!

Out and About

We have been making an attempt to get out and do things in between the various snowstorms.
We attempted parking downtown so we could go to the yearly Rock and Gem show.

Aeden did the dig, or in his case the sort, for rocks of your choice, a quarter apiece!
I spent some time taking pictures through the window of the museum. The bowl shaped building on the right is The Egg.
We took Aeden to see "Star Trek: Live!" at The Egg in March.
Although he looks less than thrilled in this picture, he really did enjoy himself during the show.
They ran the carousel for free at the Rock and Gem Show!
I just liked the way these were framed in the picture.
Aeden and I have been listening to audiobooks in the car while waiting for Eric to get off work. We have also managed to catch some great sunsets, and in this case some sunset colored clouds.
Have you seen crazy? Oh, wait! He is with me. :)

Lions

March comes in like a Lion and out like a Lamb...so the saying goes. What I am interested in knowing is a what point is March no longer coming in? When can I expect lambs?

We woke up to ice, snow and Aeden's 7th snow day this morning:

One of our evergreen trees wasn't so green this morning!
The basketball hoop has its own icicles.
Around 3pm the sun came out and everything started sparkling.

Snapshots

It was so cold that the snowbanks developed their own icicles.

Aeden and I saw signs of spring...if you look closely at the trees.
Snowflakes, some blurry, some big pictures, all kind of cool.

Aeden got paid to shovel the driveway after we got another 3ish inches.
Being a daredevil in the sled...click through to the blog for video.

Aeden tells about his new sled which is apparently some snake name. In the video he comments that kids would be scared unless they are abnormal. Later I asked him if he was scared and he said no, but that it means he is abnormal...

Pacific

One thing I am finding endearing about Aeden right now is that he will say pacific instead of specific.

Snow Day Number 6

Snow day 6 today...officially taking away from pre-planned breaks. I don't want to find out what happens if they use up all the break days off in snow days!
This snow was heavy and wet. Good for snowmen, but Aeden didn't make one. Instead he went digging and sledding.
Digging a hole in the mound on the patio (porch?).

Aeden propelling himself through the yard on the sled because the snow is so deep.
Guess what?! We have snow. :P

More Snow!

February 1st brought about 6" (give or take an inch) more snow. I looked outside and this squirrel (look for the bushy part of the middle of the picture) was running up and down the tree, then digging in the ground next to it. Sadly I was only able to take pictures through the screen so this is the best.

The thermostat on 2/1/11
Eric snowblowing on 2/1/11.
Ah...then on February 2nd we woke up to another 6(ish)" that had fallen overnight. Then ice pellets came down on top of that and more is expected.
Ths is a picture of our mailbox, Eric has cleared what little is cleared from it. The plow totally ignored our side of the road for the second day. Somehow the mailman did mange to drive by and leave us mail, but I had to dig out a section for tomorrow...I just hope the plow doesn't come by and fill it back up.
If you look really, really, closely, you can see the dark smudge that is Eric working to clear out near the mailbox.
A view from the semi-circular driveway to show how much we have had to stack up as we cleared the driveway repeatedly in the last month.
