Up All Night
If I actually had (m)any blog readers I would almost be tempted to try out twitter. Of course from what little I have looked at it I would probably need a fancier cell phone (one that did more than temperamentally accept my pre-paid phone card every few months). So I guess it is a good thing that there are hardly any (frequent) readers here.
Because if I did then it would be fun to update on the exciting night we are having here. For Easter Aeden got a coupon to stay up all night long on either a Friday or Saturday night. He is exercising this option now, at this moment, as we speak.
What could an almost 6 and 25/26 year old do all night long? No worries, the boy has a plan. A plan that has been hatching since Easter. Truly you must be thankful that you do not live in this house.
His plan is to watch all the Super Mario videos (he has all three seasons on DVD) in their entirety all.night.long. Yes that is right faithful reader(s). We get to hear the lovely sound of "hooked on the brothers" for hours upon hours on end. What lucky parents we are. Of course if we were smart parents we might have insisted that he still had to go to his room at bedtime, but then where would the fun be in that.
I am sure at this point you are lamenting the fact that I do not have a twitter account and therefore you do not get to experience the evening with me. I could always recap and update, wouldn't that be fun? I might be asleep before him though and I don't think I will trust him with the secret password to my blogger account. ;)
So far Aeden has come in to dance to the opening songs, ask for food, ask for dessert, ask to have his sleeping bag re-zipped so it is in sleeping bag form, come in to tell me he thinks the phrase is hooked on the brothers and that it is not hooked on the double like I thought, I am sure he will be back soon...

8:12 p.m.: "Mommy its my break time!"
8:14 p.m.: {Aeden comes dancing into our room swinging his arms exaggeratedly.}
"Mommy I can barely stand up. I need a break. I need to do some exercise." --Aeden proceeds to stretch and touch his toes (8:00 hour)
"My feet got exercise, I put both my feet up 120 times so I think I did 60 on the left foot and 60 on the right foot" -- Aeden (2 minutes later)
"Guys, at 9:00 I want all the lights out" -- delusional Aeden who thinks he is in charge and his parents are "guys" (8:59ish)
"Mommy, Daddy, what time are you going to bed?" -- Aeden (9:30ish)
"Daddy it's 10:00." 5 min later "Daddy you get a bonus kiss." 30 seconds later "I will still be awake at 1:00 a.m." -- Aeden
Numerous more forays into our bedroom until 12:00 when I finally went to bed. Aeden apparently fell asleep (according to Eric) around 1:17 a.m. Aeden told me this morning that he woke up at 4:59 and didn't want to interrupt my sleep so he went upstairs and rested some more.

Scout Camp 2008
Aeden attended a week-long scout day camp this week. Initially he was tired and hot but once he got used to all the walking and the weather got cooler he really started to enjoy himself. I was there all day on Wednesday and for the closing ceremony today.
Craft time: Aeden is making an autograph book, but he only had one person sign it, another person from his group named Aiden.
Science Time: The person who led science said that the boys would earn their belt loop and pin this week!
They talked about the scientific method and did an experiment that demonstrated diffusion.
Then they explored the wonderful world of skulls!
Other activities the boys enjoyed were sports (soccer, badmitton, volleyball) and games (kickball, utimate frisbee, parachute), more crafts and activities, swimming, and a giant slip-n-slide.
They did archery! 
This year he was able to do it by himself, although most of his arrows sailed over the target.

The theme this year was something to do with Knights of the Round Table. Here Aeden is playing with an acorn while waiting to be knighted.
After all the squires (aka scouts) were knighted they enjoyed a lovely song and the opportunity to eat from a trough of ice cream.
You can't tell from the picture and sadly I didn't get a good picture of it, but the ice cream was in long bins like a trough. The bins spanned the length of about 4 picnic tables and all the scouts got a spoon and the opportunity to eat the ice cream straight from the shared trough.
Kind of gross if you ask me!
Final Verdict: Aeden really enjoyed scout camp this year and wants to go back next year.
Bear Den
We have a membership to the local children's museum. They don't change the exhibits much but they have a lot of neat programs during the summer, and they are air conditioned. We go about once a week during the summer so the membership more than pays for itself.
Here Aeden has climbed into a bear den.

A proud moment
Aeden has a love of all things Mario.
He also loves collections, here is his webkinz character collection.
His nightstand shows that he is a blend of both Eric and I, although with a bit more Eric than me, at least in his hobbies. His behavior is highly reminiscent of my youth. ;)
On his nightstand: Two books (one is about pirates!), a reading lamp, webkinz characters, mario characters, disney mp3 player, 2 cameras, and 2 used rolls of film.

One Mississippi, Two Mississippi
In case you thought I forgot you, I have not.
For some reason this first week of summer vacation has just flown by. We haven't taken many pictures, I think Aeden and I have been veritable slugs! Too much effort to do anything beyond sit and stare aimlessly at the wall...sometimes.
Today we were invited to go swimming at Aeden's friend NT's house. They have a lovely in-ground pool that is not about to be drained and torn down on Friday (however, our above-ground pool will be drained and dismantled Friday). But I digress...
Swimming was lovely, and even more lovely was the fact that Aeden showed us that he has not lost all the ground he gained last summer. He was swimming underwater with his goggles and even into the deep end when he had swimmies on. I was highly impressed and he proudly shared with Eric that he could swim underwater for 5 seconds, well actually 6 seconds and he counted by mississipis too!
(sorry no pictures I was busy having fun!)
