______________
Hmmm
If you ask Aeden a question or he has to think about something he will take his index finger and lay it against his lower cheek and say "hmmm".
______________
Wrong Color
His new favorite game is to sit on the window ledge and watch for Eric to come home (or wait for Eric to get ready to leave) and discuss what color Eric's car is. He will purposely say a wrong color and then laugh. Conversation sample:
Mama: What color is Daddy's car?
Aeden: White
Mama: Daddy's car is white?
Aeden:No, red.
Mama: Daddy's car is red.
Aeden:No, purple.
Mama: Daddy's car is purple?
Conversation continues until mommy gets bored.
_____________
Cleaning
As I type Aeden is cleaning the apartment with a broom twice his size and a dustpan. He will pick the dustpan up to about his waist to sweep things into it.
______________
Independence
(Okay this one drives me batty. **Note for 2008: I wish he would do this on his own now!)
Everything these days is "My get it".
He wants fish sticks for dinner, "My get it, my get it". He has to put all five fish sticks on the pan, and put the pan into the toaster oven.
He has to make his own sandwiches (butter and jelly, or pb).
He has to do his own DVD's (which we frown on because he went through a phase where he scratched some computer cds).
Everything is "My get it!"
_____________
Daddeeeeeeeeeee
Aww, this is perhaps my favorite. At the end of the day (and sometimes when he gets up) everything is Daddeeeeeeeee. Daddy has to help Aeden make his sandwich, Daddy has to carry Aeden to the car, Daddy has to give Aeden a hug. It is so nice.

Yep, nope and others
Aeden's new phrases: Yep, and Nope
Also he is learning to be very polite. Today he tripped over his bike, picked himself up, turned around and said "Sorry bike".

Warning poop mentioned:
January 27, 2004
And all boy he is! Let me tell you about the last ten minutes.
I was reading e-mail and Aeden was busy dirting his pants. Well, I got to an e-mail from Eric where he tells Aeden to be good. So I called Aeden in to tell him, and he comes around the corner hiking his pants up like they were falling off. Thinking nothing of it, I asked him if he pooped. He said yes (should have known something was up when he actually said yes), then walked away. So I followed him......
into the hallway, right outside my door......
where he pointed to his diaper.......
that he had pooped in.....
then taken off and dropped........
so there was the diaper, and a pile of poop.
He says "Poop" (in his cute way of saying p's).{sigh} I couldn't help it I busted out laughing.
So we picked it up, and I put it in the toilet, after he sniffed it (don't ask me why) and said "ewwwww poop". He flushed and said "My poop".
Then we went to change, I pulled his pants down and he still needed wiped. Ewwwww. Got a new diaper on, jammie pjs bottoms on and went to take the red striped shirt off and as I was pulling it over his head, sand started pouring down his face.
He had apparently put handfuls of sand in the pocket of his shirt at daycare.

28 month abilities
January 18, 2004
1.use scissors: Well, he tries, he insists on getting them and cuts a little spot then rips the rest of the paper. :D
2.paint and with what? how long?how often? He does paint, but not often, with fingerpaints, although for Christmas he got some paint, paint cups and brushes, but we are going to wait for the move and let him use them then.
3.run like a toddler and not like a baby?use a bike? jump up and down? I don't understand this one. He runs, but not sure the difference b/t a toddler and a baby. I don't know if he can use a bike, his legs were too short last time, couldn't reach the pedals. He can jump and down, quite well (IMO). :D
4.use playdough......: He loves playing with playdough, he will squish it and tear it into small pieces, and try to roll it, or stamp it.
5. talk clearly and more than a 100 words...create sentences: He definitely says more than 100 words, I think about 75-85% of what he says is understandable by me, and he strings 3-4 words together in a sentence (not a grammatically correct sentence, but then he is only 2). I think he is still somewhat delayed in his speech, but since he is progressing I am not worried. He has started to use pronouns (MY), and will say My sit chair. So I think he is doing okay. (2008 note, how naive was I to not worry about speech?)

New car
December 18, 2003
Okay, a little background. I had a Neon with a lovely green glow-in-the dark key. Being the nice mommy I am, whenever I pick Aeden up he will say key, key (more like ey ey) and I will give them to him. Then he will run out to the car and unlock the door.
Well...we went on Sunday and finalized (or so we thought but that is another story) the paperwork on the new car.
Note: new car=new key
So we meet MIL at Target to get Aeden, who upon seeing me starts say "ey, ey". So I give him my keys. To which he gets extremely frantic and starts shuffling through them saying key, key. So we realize and try explaining that we got a new car so the key isn't there, we have a different key. He was quite upset.
We then take him out to the new car (which is parked near a white car...I had a white neon) which is a bronzeish, grayish color. He freaks! No way is that our car, no way does he want to get in it, points to the white car points everywhere but at the car. Poor guy was crying real elephant tears he was so upset. {sigh}
He did get over it and today when my MIL wanted to just sit in the car he told her no. My sit. :D
