Last Day of 4th Grade

We started something new this year where we measure Aeden's height with a piece of string, trace his hand/footprints and ask what his various favorite things are at the beginning of the school year. We then did the same thing on the last day of school. Surprisingly he grew 3 inches!

Every year at PES field day is held on the last day of school. The 4th graders get to be team leaders and lead a group of K-3 students to the various stations. Unfortunately, this year they only got to complete 3 stations before thunder started.

Sad and lonely knowing he won't be returning to PES in the fall.

Bronx Zoo

Fourth graders went on a class trip to the Bronx Zoo. We took lots of pictures but are just going to touch on the highlights here.

The ostrich was outraged after the giraffe attacked him!

Who told Aeden that he could act like he was a teenager?
The bears were wrestling...

Aeden spun the scope around to look at his friends instead of the animals.
A red panda which looks nothing like I expected, since I expected it to be a bear. :P

The children's zoo had some interactive displays. This one was the gopher holes, the kids could pop up into the plastic bubbles and be to the gophers.

A peacock, there were a lot of peacocks at the zoo.

Overheard: Father's Day Gift Ideas...

Aeden was quite irate when we went to D*nkin' Don*ts. He pointed out their advertising and talked about how he did not like the store. He then went on to say that he hates the radio ads for DD, Mcds, & L*we's.

I asked him why, which opened up a full-fledged RANT about how all of those places want you to give your dad coffee, or tools. One day he will be a father and he doesn't want coffee or tools (que indignant hand to chest) and not all father's want these things.

I calmly pointed out that by the time he is a father his child will know what he wants, just like he knows what his Dad likes.

His response was something to the effect of: Well what if I have a daughter and she is stumped like how I was stumped for you for Mother's Day?!

He wasn't very appeased when I reminded him that odds are if he has a daughter, he will probably have a wife who can help the daughter with ideas...

Comment Card

Aeden shared his thoughts about pricing with a T*rget employee, she suggested that he fill out a comment card, and after asking what a comment card was, he did.

Just a random shot of Aeden and Mom. :)

Wallow smoke

Driving through New Mexico towards Arizona we saw a lot of smoke from the Wallow fire. The sun looked hot pink through it.

Once we got past a certain point the smoke ended up behind us, and the road went directly into the sunset. So essentially, we rode off into the sunset, it wasn't as cool as it sounds. In fact, it was blinding.

Mystery Under the Big Top

Aeden was the youngest, most inexperienced juggler (according to the character bio) in his play this year...

which doesn't explain why his make-up looks like a pirate! Except he says he asked for a beard and scar...which apparently didn't alarm the make-up artist. We explained character development to him, so he came up with a story to make it okay. Apparently he is a pirate who was rescued by the circus and asked to become a juggler.

Hopefully next time he will have make-up that goes with his character. :)

Overheard: Inherbit

Aeden & I were having a discussion about nature vs. nurture when he pipes up with "Oh you mean when someone inherbits something?". Huh? I asked him what inherbit means and he said "You know, like I got your fingers and toes."

What a silly boy! Inherbit = inherit. :)
