Monkey Bread

Aeden made monkey bread and insisted that I take a picture and put a copy of the recipe in his binder.

Overheard

After having a discussion about the difference between jumping on wood chips at the playground and jumping on asphalt/road there was a long pause.

Then Aeden said: "So this is ass............................fault?".

{eye rolling} I remember the good old days of trying to sneak inappropriate words in appropriately. Aeden is clearly growing up. :P

Signs of Spring and Other Things

The necklace Aeden is wearing...he made it. He even chose this old fish charm (that Eric has had as long as I have known him) for the necklace because it went with the green coloring. I think he looks like a beach bum whenever he wears the necklace. :)

Working hard to get the sticks picked up.

Who doesn't love a nice dandelion?

Especially when they make wish flowers. Aeden is not pleased that I asked (told) him to sit down in the yard amongst the blue flowers.
However he has no qualms about making not one but two wishes on the wish flowers.
Posing

Hey, Mommy? Is that a pickle-bug?
Why yes it is!
Spring means planting flowers at the VFW Post with scouts.
As well as going to birthday parties.
(Looking a little wolverineish with the wild waves)

Mother's Day Fun
First we went to see Star Trek (go see it!) and then we went bowling.
And he goes for the spare in a very interesting (incorrect) manner!

Second Grade Play

The entire second grade put on a phenomenal performance of The Raindrops' Family Vacation.
Aeden was on the left side for the songs, but on the right side of the cafeteria for his line. We were in the second row on the right side, consequently we had to shoot video and pictures in openings between other audience members.
The raindrops. :)
Saying his line. Loving the hand gesture!
Dancing
Blowing me and Dad kisses on his way to the cast party.
Having some punch at the cast party.

Aeden's line in the play.

Transformers! Canada! Transformers!

On a whim we drove up to Toronto, Ontario this weekend to go to a Transformers convention. Yup, that is what we did. It was everything you would expect a transformers convention to be, except maybe the fact that there was other collectibles be sold by dealers as well (think star wars).

Since I am the best mother and wife ever I drove the boys up there, battling traffic the whole time.

Heading to the convention...

Oh my!

So my mirror picture taking abilities need work, but I loved that it gave the illusion that I am skinny!

Waiting for the latest episode(s) of Transformers Animated to start.

Checking out various transformers that were for sale.
Ach! Man the prices are too high!
The voice of Bumblebee was there, at the convention, signing autographs. We managed to be second in line. Can you feel the excitement? :D

Bumblebee is Aeden's favorite transformer. He is also soemone else's favorite as they chose to dress up as him...just a random person at the convention.
After the convention the boys humored me as we headed to a convenience store. We got several different types of candy to try (I LOVE Bounty) and learned that Canadian Coca-cola tastes much better (in my opinion) than the American version...Canada doesn't have that disgusting aftertaste!

Earth Day

Aeden sang a beautiful Earth Day song...and when he was finished I realized I forgot to hit record.

Here are two slightly different versions that I coerced him into doing in my attempt to recapture the original (the attempt failed btw).

If you received this via e-mail, be sure to click through to the blog to view the video.

Easter Day and Red Peeps

Oh ye doubters...Behold the red peeps! *

We started a new tradition this year where Easter eggs are dyed on Easter. The Easter bunny hid plastic eggs only this year. Everything worked out and coloring the eggs was a lot more relaxing without a deadline and rushed feeling!

Aeden and my eggs ended up with a lot of wax on them which made them look quite speckled. Here is some fancy camera work to show off the blue, my personal favorite from this year.

Aeden being dazzling.
Another treat this year, Aeden volunteered to make dessert. He made a box mix cheesecake and we put strawberries and cool whip on it. Delicious!
Remember when we left off on the last post, there was still a golden egg to be found. Thirty minutes before bed Aeden found the golden egg hidden inside the giraffe puppet's puppet pouch.
As he says "I can't believe the Easter Bunny hid the golden egg in the giraffe puppet. I didn't even remember that it was a puppet!"

*Some people didn't believe me when I said there were red peeps, well behold the untouched up photographic evidence!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!

The celebrations started with the 'annual' TRU hunt.

Followed by a happenstance visit to the Easter Bunny.

This morning Aeden woke up to find this note which includes math problems that he had to solve in order to determine how many eggs were hidden in each room.

With just a tad bit of help (i.e. explaining how to solve a problem with parenthese) he solved the problems and was ready to go.

The Easter Bunny hid two special eggs, and one bonus egg at our house this year. There was a bonus egg, a sticker egg, and the golden egg.

The bonus egg was found in the bin of unused plastic eggs, sneaky Easter Bunny! The sticker egg had a Super Mario Brothers Watch...and the golden egg hasn't been found yet!

Mom and Dad bought Aeden a new bike for Easter. He got to pick it out a couple of weeks ago. Now that it is 'officially' his, we decided to pose for some pictures.
No actual riding occurred due to lack of helmet wear and a distinctly uncomfortable wind chill level.
Happy Easter Everyone!
